ok my entry for day 2 in krabi. i think ill go straight to the point rather than typing nonsense

so our tentative on day 2 in krabi was going on ISLAND HOP. there are various of ISLAND HOPPING TOURS here. because krabi has a number of islands. and for the day, we went on the 4 ISLAND TOUR.

first things first. how much? so for this 4 island tour my dad got a 400 baht/person deal. (roughly this was the common price. but mum and me saw even a cheaper price which was 350 baht and some tour booth selling at 300 baht. so like i mentioned earlier, YOU HAVE TO WALK AROUND AND SEE THE PRICES FROM DIFFERENT TOURIST BOOTH.

so for this 400 baht 4 island tour - what do you get?
1. 4 island tours from morning till evening (roughly we ended our tour and reached the pier around 4 ++ pm), with lunch, and snorkelling. :)

below was the lorry that pick us up. around 9 am (pretty much around that time. so the lorry will go from list of hotels to pick up the tourists). transportation in krabi is rather unique, where they modified pick up lorries so it can accommodate travellers, and protect us under the sun too :p, the famous tuk tuk, the modern lorry, mpvs, vans and others.


2. we traveled via long tail boat, traditional wooden boat. they also have a speed boat tour, but the price is pricey. if im not mistaken, double the price of long tail boat tour. of course, it was FULL with tourists. my dad even made friends with a french teacher, and an australian grandpa (both were travelling solo. i wish i can do a solo vacation. but hmm for now?lets put that in the bucket list before getting married at the last number. mum surely will hesitant to let me travel on my own. mehh)
the long tail boat speed was of course slower than the speed boat because it uses a long propeller. while speedboat uses a modern engine  (1 engine is 250 hp ok. and some have 2 engines, and some have 3 engines. so you multiply that!)

the long tail boat at the pier. the pier was located around noppharattara beach. thats why we were transported from hotels respectively. to gather here. you can walk from Ao Nang beach to Noppharattara, but its quite a distance. (but tour is inclusive of pick up and return right. so why the hassle?)

if you are sea sick or motion sick - my advice is : get an antiemetic aka anti vomiting aka ubat tahan muntah before you ride the boat (any of the boat). my mum gets sea sick but mildly. so she took the tablet before we started off our journey. i am medical student and a future doctor, so health is a priority even when we travel. we even learn about travel medicine. so the most common sickness traveller experience is diarrhea. we call it travel diarrhea (you know all the eating and drinking in foreign places, and we are unsure of the hygiene and things like that). and boy, you should see my medications that i brought along. i have 1 full bag of it.

but if youre lazy to carry around medications with you. dont worry. there are plenty of pharmacies in ao nang. its like the family mart. scattered and abundance. but urm from my dad's experience of buying balm. its quiet hard because of the english proficiency level is different. id say malaysians speak good english. and some of the thai speaks minimal english. so its hard to communicate. and my dad often uses hand language and basic english to indicate that he will find what he needs on his own. if you carry your own meds from home, you save on the unnecessary spending. thats the most important thing right. why buy when you have plenty of it at home.

3. so the islands listed under the 4 islands tour was

- Tup Island
- Chicken Island
- Poda Island
- Phra Nang cave, at Railay beach (there is a penis shrine here)

this is the chicken island. it looks like the head (jambul ayam)

first stop : Tup Island

here you can snorkel or swim or just laid back on the beach. 

from this island you can also walk (around 30-40 mins) across the sea to the next island. (theres 3 islands. its like a triangle. and is reachable by walking). m not sure which one. but you can walk to adjacent island when it is low tide. (when we came, it was low tide). but mum and i decided not to walk because we need the strength walking in water and up till higher than waist level. so, na ah for us. 

chicken island again . we snorkel here. basically the boatman stoppped the boat. and we just went down in the water. i had photos but in dad's dslr. it wasnt scary because (i am bad at swimming), and they had life jackets. and theres even a hongkong girl (maybe 6 or 7 years old) who enjoyed the snorkelling very much. 

beautiful. along the way we spotted some people kayaking. but the tour for kayaking is more expensive. (more than 1000 baht)

poda island signage. this is where we had our lunch. (forgot to take photos). it was rice, sweet sour chicken, mixed vege, egg in sauce, coke and mineral waters. it was delicious! (maybe because we were hungry. but i enjoy the food. and it was still hot)

and oh theres monkey here! more than 1. and this monkey is tame. we even patted it on its back. but monkeys are naughty. so they stole some crackers from other tourists and climbed up the trees. lol.

this is the penis shrine in Phra Nang cave. its basically an island with cave. on the left, there are rock climbers. i forgot to take photo. 

i knew this place way before i went here. because of instagram. i saw people posted photos of the big black penis. lols. (my mum thought it was mushrooms until i told her its penises.)

the story on this place is that, theres a goddess here that grants prayers and wishes. so people come here to pray. and they pray for love, and fertility. HENCE the penis statues. 

i dont think theres nothing wrong, because its the religious practice of other people. i find it unique. i dont really have dirty mind on this thing because hey, ill be working later on and FOR SURE ill be seeing alot of penises and vaginas especially to insert urine catheter (you know those urine bag collection on patient's bed). so its fine by me. (not to my mum. because as she found out that these were penises, she went away from here. lol)

theres another shrine consisting of mythical arts and items depicting the goddess. but i didnt get near because theres a whole group of tourists there. listening to the tour guide. 

so, after Phra Nang - we get back to the pier. yay. 4 islands - CHECKED


so whats for dinner? i wanted to try the famous pancake. (theres a particular stall that i am looking for, because fellow malaysian travellers shared in their blogs that this aunty sells the yummiest pancake. but since i couldnt locate her. so i just make do with whatever stall i found).

this stall is located near the mcdonald. but i believe the location varies, as they can park anywhere they want. this is not a fixed stall. its a stall on the motorbike.

so i had the nutella pancake and cheese pancake. YUMMY! nutella spread was awesome. and cheese was awesome too. there are stools provided. so you can just eat in front of the stall. 

it costs 30 bath for nutella pancake and 40 baht for cheese pancake. 

you wont possibly think that 2 pancakes can satisfy 3 stomachs right? of course we had proper dinner. but, its at the same restaurant - LEMON restaurant. partly because they can speak malay, and food is OK ( im a picky eater. so yeah). but my dad thought the food were super. and for the 2nd night, we didnt eat as much as the 1st night. and the total dinner expenses was under 1000 baht. i think around 800 + baht?

so end of day 2. 

day 2 epxnediture :

1. 4 island tour 400 baht/pax = 1200 baht (3 pax)

2. pancake 70 baht

3. dinner under 900 baht

4. misc - my dad likes to eat and munch junkies. so he bought pringles, cokes, jucies, chewing gums etc. and im not sure how much does all that cost. lol. 

roughly. estimated under 2500 baht. (RM250)

so for day 3? another island hop! dad were asking me which one to go. is it james bond island or phi phi island?

percutian ke krabi thailand - day 1

assalamualaikam dan salam sejahtera.

1st of all, alhamdulillah dah habis exam year 4 in september.

now, as of 7th october onwards, kami sudah bergelar final year medical student aka year 5.

gelaran FINAL memanglah kedengaran seronok, tetapi datang dengan responsibility yang teramatlah tinggi. responsiblity untuk pass professional exam next september. doakan kami lulus cemerlang.
supaya kami dapat jadi SAFE DOCTOR yang boleh merawat pesakit pesakit kami. insyaAllah.

so lepas year 4 theory exam bersepadu (kami direct 1 week exam 12 postings ok) - ada lah cuti 1 minggu. aku semestinya SUKA dan EXCITED. sebab dah plan cuti ke KRABI with mami. initially, it was krabi with mami. and last minute time balik miri for bro's wedding, tiba tiba bapakku gedik nak join. i was like mehhhh. awal awal ckp xnk. last2 ckp 'daddy tgk la kalau daddy free. tapi rasanya free sebab dh habis contract etc2". mak aih, anak nya dah book hotel, book tix flights untuk 2 org. and most importantly budget untuk 2 org ja. sobs. tapi xpa, sebab apa apa pun lagi berkat travel dgn parents drpd huha huha dgn kwn2. kadang kadang kita seronok plan travel, vacation dgn kwn2 tapi kita lupa yang $$$$$$$ tu datang dari parents, dan parents kita bukan ade pokok duit belakang rumah yer. dan most importantly, kesihatan dan kepanjangan umur parents kita yang kita tak tau. samada kita pergi dulu, ataupun depa pergi dulu. nanti putih mata salah seorang takda. mcm2 plan, tinggal kenangan. tapi itu semua kuasa tuhan. kita doa yang baik baik aja na. (selingan nasihat sedikit ok)

last last all in all. kami bertiga jadi lah ke krabi. so percutian ke krabi with mami + daddy.

disini ingin berkongsi bajet dan tips bercuti kat krabi. sebab aku rasa its time to give back to society. (kalau ada yang baca lah). sebab aku berani mengambil keputusan bercuti ke luar malaysia, dan juga first time keluar tanah air ni tau, all thanks to travel blogs di luar sana. dari travel blog backpackers, ke solo travel, ke honeymoon, ke cuti beramai ramai. syg nya aku lupa pulak link yang mana. sebab aku baca banyak sangat -.- hehe. tapi serious, sangat sangat berguna untuk noob mcm aku.

mami at klia2 international departure

ticket kami 3 beranak total is RM650. me and my mum was RM480 (add on luggage 20 kg pergi balik, add on seating option pergi balik. yg add on ni 44 + 44 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 =  112. betul x? kira manual nih. lol. my dad was RM170, no add ons)

so on day 1, monday. flight kami dari KLIA2 0700 hrs - landed in krabi airport 0725 hrs. worry not! krabi is 1 hour late behind malaysia time ok! berdasarkan pemerhatian aku, airport krabi ni lebih kurang macam airport labuan. sebab ade 2 tingkat. arrival lain, departure lain.

masa dalam flight tu xde lah fully seated. rongak rongak la jugak. i mean, sebab hari pergi pun weekdays kan. dan bukan lah cuti sekolah. haha. antara yang cuti aku je la. sekolah perubatan katanya.

perlu visa ke nak ke krabi, thailand? hah MESTI LA. tapi kite panggil VISA ON ARRIVAL. sama mcm kalau nak gi singapore kan, dan lain lain negara. aku tak tau sgt sbb xpernah sampai lagi lah.

visa departure (isi bila kita nak kembali ke kuala lumpur. masa check kt gate, the ground hostess akan claim visa ni)

so masa dalam flight tu, attendant akan bagi KERTAS VISA! dan korang isi lah masa dalam flight tu. ala, details yang biasa biasa. jangan risau na. tapi kertas tu ada 2 part - ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE. masa kita dari kl, kita isi yang arrival lah. nanti nak balik semula ke kl, kita isi departure tu. simple kan. tapi aku lupa pulak nak snap gambar. sbb dok ngantuk and syok tgk pemandangan luar. sambil sambil borak ngn mak aku. (seat beli ok. tp yg biasa je. RM6 sorg. bapak aku je x beli sbb beli tic die lambat and seat dkt2 kitrog dh full)

lepas dah sampai tu kene q up la untuk immigration check.
ha, kat sini krabi airport memang strict. NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED. so simpan lah dslr smartphone digicam korg dlm pocket dulu ok. even immigration officer die pn muke lawa tapi serious je. omg. serah kan passport dan kertas visa tu. and they will tear the paper and tinggalkan part VISA DEPARTURE and stapler kat passport korg. supaya x hilang.

turun bawah. amik luggage kami. dan jalan ckit belah kanan. korg nampak mcm kedai kecik dan akan ada tangan melambai lambai dgn suara thai yg lemah lembut "airport shuttle... tour trip.. phi phi island etc2".
aku ambik keputusan untuk naik shuttle bus ke hotel kami yang berasa di Ao Nang Beach. sebab masih awal lagi kan, so every stop bus tu buat, at least aku boleh tgk ape ade kiri kanan tempat tu. senang nak berjalan nanti.

kalau nak naik taxi pn boleh, harga is 600 baht. kalau kongsi 4 org ok la kan. 150 bath 1 pax.

so cost untuk shuttle bus 150 baht/pax. kami bertiga so jadilah 450 baht. dia akan bagi kertas kat kita, so nanti dkt dpn pintu airport show kertas tu dkt bus contractor yg akan tunggu dpn and jgn lupa bagi tahu nama hotel korg kt dia. sbb nanti dlm bus die akan headcount and skali lagi tanya hotel kita.
so nama hotel kami adalah Ao Nang Palace Resort. tapi depa dok sebut Ao Nang Pallet -.- sampai aku pun confuse Pallet die tu Palace ke Parade ke. sebab hotel kat Ao Nang ade jgk name yg dkt2. so nanti salah hantar lain pulak ceritanya.

pengalaman dalam bus? LOL. memang rasa mcm bus tgh racing dgn driver tgn sebelah on the phone, main horn horn lagi. omg. jalan kat sini ada 2 lane je. pastu motor ada yg kepala keras xde helmet. ade yg ade helmet. tp helmet die cute sgt! mcm topi main main je. memang berbeza dgn malaysia. kalau kt malaysia, horn horn slalunya tgh marah maki etc. kat sini, horn bermaksud dia dibelakang, and coming through.

airport krabi - luar arrival. ada banyak van, keta, tunggu guest. some of it we can book from the hotels.

perjalanan mengambil masa dalam 1 jam. jauh jugak la. sebab ada berenti kat tgh tgh krabi town, hantar passenger yg nak ke phi phi island directly. (xsnap gambar jgk). pastu sebelum sampai Ao Nang beach, berenti jugak kt ofis kecik shuttle bus tu utk ambik bbrp passenger tukar ke van. sbb jln nk ke hotel diorg adalah jalan kecik, yg xblh dilalui oleh bus tu. berdasarkan nama nama hotel yg disebut, adalah hotel yg mahal mahal 4 star and 5 star. kat krabi ni pelik ckit, hotel hotel grand mcm tersorok ke belakang ckit. hotel hotel biasa, tepi jalan je.

pintu masuk lobby. open air. even hotel besar2 pn pesen lobby open air. rasanya tahap keselamatan kat krabi masih tinggi. atm pun ade kt tepi pokok tepi jalan tau. xde pn org kacau. or vandalisme bagai.

ni lah hotel kami secara keseluruhannya. untung kat kami dapat view belakang iaitu VIEW CLIFF!

 nampak x family mart tu? tu mcm kedai supermarket la. ala ala 99 speedmart. banyak ok branch die. lalu je, family mart. kiri kanan ade.

pemandangan luar balcony kami. tada cantek kan ade cliff ada pool.

bilik kami level 2. naik 1 flight of stairs je. sbb ni walkup hotel. and masa booking bilik pn, aku siap request mintak LOW LEVEL ROOM as i am travelling with elderly mother. (walaupun mami baru 50 lbh, tp dh kene cop elderly. lols. tapi biasala kan, mak mak bapak bapak semua banyak masalah lutut. and my mum is one of them. tapi alhamdulillah, time kt krabi die ok je.)

sebenarnya ada banyak website yg kite boleh book hotel like agoda.com, asiarooms.com, airasiago.com.
tapi aku memilih booking.com sebab? SEBAB SAYA XDA KDIT KAD ha..apparently all the other websites only wants payment via credit card. and sadly, i only own a debit card. -.- alhamdulillah dapat booking.com, sbb payment is stated in baht and RM at that time of booking. means? hari ni kite book (walaupun check in bln dpn) kite byr ikut rate hari ni sahaja. dan paling best, die x deduct pn dari debit card kite walaupun die bagi reminder yg balance account mestilah lebih drpd payment kite. so kite byr ON THE SPOT time CHECK IN. via? CASH!

kalau ikut waktu check in is 1200 pm kan. tapi alhamdulillah masa kami sampai 9 lebih tu, dapat trus check in. yay. tapi rehat xsampai 15 min pn. bapak aku terus bawak g makan. im like WHAT? man, this is what you get when you travel with your parents especially a food lover dad like mine.

dan restoran halal yang femes kat Ao Nang yg disebut2 oleh kakak ipar 1 aku is LEMON RESTAURANT. dan cun cun abg aku dan kakak ipar 2 aku baru pergi krabi dalam 2 mggu sblm kami - pun suggest LEMON RESTAURANT. sbb die ckp murah, dan sedap drpd BAMBOO RESTAURANT - betul betul sebelah LEMON. pesaing sengit eh? hehe.

so pasal makan makan JANGAN RISAU. kat krabi ni, insyaAllah senang nk mkn. sbb restoran halal berlambak. dan mostly serve malay food yg kita biasa makan kat bumi malaysia. dan! language barrier is nothing sbb mostly pekerja restoran can speak malay. ada yang memang thai tapi can speak malay, ada org kelantan yang kahwin ngn org kt sana dan mcm2 lah.. rasa mcm kt malaysia je.

coconut shake. aku ingat shake dalam buah kelapa. rupa rupanya dalam gelas. mehh. sebab kak ipar 1 aku ckp masa dia pergi in 2013, coconut shake die sedap dan serve dalam buah kelapa tu sendiri. agak nya dah berubah style kot.

 bagi aku makan kat sini agak mahal la. sebab buah kelapa biasa tu 70 baht = RM7, yg juice ni hamba dah lupa. tapi kalau xsilap hamba total makan siang ni dalam 500 lebih baht. tomyam, nasik prawn sweet sour sauce, kelapa shake 2, kelapa 1, orange juice 1

lepas makan? kita jalan jalan ke Ao Nang beach. lalu hotel, naik atas sapu sunblock bagai. dan tanya reception berapa jauh beach ni. sebab baca review, 5 min walk. sekali, die cakap NO NO. 2 MIN ONLY. hah! terkejut kami. jalan punya jalan, betul la. dekat gile!  xsampai 500m pun ok. 

sebelum tu, banyak deretan kedai. bapak aku pn suggest beli la topi beach tu kat kami. so beli 2 400baht. one for the mum, one for the daughter.

pemandangan sekitar Ao Nang Beach. x jalan jauh sgt pn. sbb tghari panas ok. kau nak aku jadi ikan salai ke jalan tghari mcmni? oh no.

my dad pn ilang entah ke mana dgn dslr die. so aku pn dh mula bosan. sbb 1, panas. 1 lagi mcm boring dh. so aku ingat nak naik gajah lah.

jalan punya jalan. last last berenti kt tourist spot yg bwh hotel kami. tanye time yg available and package yg ade. so ambik yg paling murah sekali la iaitu elephant trekking 1 hour. die bagi rega 550 baht per person. so 3 org 1650 baht. sebenarnya harga ni mahal. sbb majority is 500 baht. and slalu kalau bargain bwh ckit, dpt la kan 450 ke. tp sbb aku dh kepanasan, dan boring melampau. aku bayar je la. walaupun aku tahu harga ini tidak berbaloi. tp malas punye pasal.
ambik time 130 pm lepas zohor. sbb nk jamak qasar. kite kn xtau kat mana tpt hutan gajah tu. kot kot la jauh kan. nanti xpsl2 terlepas.

so van datang amik kat hotel dalam pukol 1 pm. dan bwk la ke tpt trekking elephant ni.
lalu noppharattara beach. lalu pier yg nk menuju ke pulau pulau dkt2 krabi ni. lalu stadium muay thai (kalau on weekend ada la event)

driver man. gajah aku ngn mak aku lah gajah paling besar -.- sebab die jantan. yg 2 lagi 2 betina. kecik ckit. gajah ni ada taring!!!! takut.

lepas sejam. balik ke hotel. yay. tp perjalanan diteruskan berjalan jalan sekeliling kedai kedai kat Ao Nang beach. jalan punya jalan jumpa statue ni. kalau datang sini MESTI AMIK GAMBAR KT SINI OK. sebab die tulis Ao Nang something something. x nampak pulak hehe.

makan petang. aku sekali lagixde mood sbb panas. lol. mmg perangai mcm ni. so aku jalan balik hotel terus tdo. sementara my parents go makan and minum di waktu petang. sedap ok mi goreng ni. dari restoran senag lenang. pn blh ckp melayu. restoran ni, main muzik rock kapak malaysia ok. rahmat, ekamatra, BPR, zaiton sameon dan mcm mcm lagi. 

so kami pn tdo la sampai dkt2 maghrib. pastu solat semua. turun dinner. kat LEMON RESTAURANT. lagi? ye lah. lagi. aku dari siang tadi dok usha pulut mangga. die ckp xde. ptg ade. so malam ni pergi, tanya lagi. PUN XDE. hampa ok. hampa. sbb pulut mangga kan thai dessert, so nak la merasa kesedapan keaslian nya. sedap ke x dari sukhumvit kpg baru, or suraya kpg baru. (suraya no 1 ok)

3 beranak melantak. haha. so malam ni expenses agak mahal iaitu dalam 1000 lebih baht. around RM100 plus la.

pastu jalan jalan lagi lepas makan. burn calorie la konon. sebenarnya tpt jalan jalan pusing pusing adalah tpt yg sama. so kita akan lalu kedai yg sama je. jgn risau, x jauh pn.

yg ni anak beranak pergi massage. me n mum opt for reflexology, my dad opt for thai traditional massage. teka berapa? 650 baht je ok. 250 + 200 + 200. each 1 hour. yg ni ok sebab die urut my dad dpn me n my mum. and x tutup kain. so nampak la ape die buat. xdela my mum rase mcm pelik pelik kan.  

lepas massage? balik hotel dan zzzzzzzzzzz. tenaga diperlukan untuk hari esok!

so roughly expenditure on day 1 :

flight ticket airasia RM650
*1. bus shuttle - 150 baht/pax - 3 pax = 450 baht
2. hotel = 2880 baht
3. beach hat = 400 baht
*4. elephant trekking 1 hour - 550 baht/pax - 3 pax = 1650 baht
5. makan makan siang dan malam = around 1600-1700 baht
6. thai massage - 3 pax = 650 baht

convert roughly to RM is RM1423

TIPS :
* yg important lah. ingat, boleh bargain lagi harga tour and jalan jalan carik tour yg murah. sebab tour office belambak aka bertaburan kat situ.

for cheap flight tickets, you have to find the deal during promotion or if its just your luck, when its cheap and you have ka-ching, might as well grab it. :). Airasia flies daily as early as 700 hrs from KLIA2 till night. while, Malaysia Airlines fly once a day to Krabi.
